Consignor Agreement
Acceptable Items
The Porter's Daughter consigns elevated women's clothing and accessories that feel current, are freshly laundered, and arrive in like-new condition.
Condition Requirements
All accepted items must be freshly laundered and clean, and free from stains, odors, damage, or excessive wear — including tears, holes, missing buttons, broken zippers, or discoloration.
If items arrive damaged or otherwise not meeting our standards, they will be entered into our inventory system and become the property of The Porter's Daughter to be used in our annual charity sale or donated. Such items will not be returned.
All pockets, handbags, and accessories must be emptied and cleaned prior to submission. Any personal items found will be discarded. The Porter's Daughter is not responsible for personal belongings left in consigned items.
Brand & Pricing Guidelines
We curate an elevated, thoughtful mix of women's clothing and accessories. We look for:
- Women's clothing and accessories with an original retail value of $150 or more
- Pieces that feel current, timeless, and well-made
- Items in like-new condition, freshly laundered and ready to wear
- Styles you would be excited to pass along to a friend

Delivery of Items
In-Person Drop-Off
Consignors in or near South Mississippi are encouraged to drop off items at our Hattiesburg, Mississippi location. Items will be reviewed during intake; unacceptable items will be returned to the consignor if they remain on premises. If the consignor has left and a damaged or dirty item is later discovered, it will become property of The Porter's Daughter for charity sale or donation.
All drop-offs incur a $25 processing fee, deducted from the payout following the consignor's most recent consignment.
Shipping
Complete our consignor form to share details about the items you wish to consign. Once approved, you will receive a prepaid shipping label. Consignors are responsible for properly packaging items and dropping the parcel with the designated carrier.
All shipments incur a $25 processing fee, deducted from the payout following the consignor's most recent consignment.
Risk of Loss (Delivery)
The Porter's Daughter assumes the risk of loss only after items are physically received, accepted, and entered into our inventory system. We are not responsible for items lost or damaged in transit.
Consignment Terms
Consignment Period
Items are accepted for a 180-day consignment period beginning on the date the item is entered into our inventory system. Items may not be reclaimed by the consignor until the conclusion of this period.
Reclaiming Unsold Items
After the 180-day period, consignors have 14 days to request the return of unsold items. All requests must be submitted in writing to consign@theportersdaughter.com. Returns are subject to a flat $25 return shipping fee per box.
Expired Items
Items that do not sell and are not reclaimed within the 14-day window will be deemed Expired and become the property of The Porter's Daughter for our annual charity sale or donation. The Porter's Daughter is not obligated to notify consignors when items expire. Consignors are responsible for monitoring inventory and expiration dates through the consignor portal.
Pricing & Sales Terms
The Porter's Daughter retains sole discretion to price, promote, and mark down items based on market demand, trends, and internal pricing strategy.
Consignors agree not to list or sell consigned items on other resale platforms (including Poshmark, eBay, or similar) during the active consignment period.
Sales tax, shipping fees, and buyers' fees are excluded from consignment payout calculations.

Risk of Loss (While in Our Possession)
The Porter's Daughter assumes risk of loss only while items are in its physical possession and after being accepted for resale and entered into our inventory system.
If an item is determined to be lost or stolen while in our possession, it will be treated as sold and the consignor will be paid a commission based on the item's estimated net selling price, as determined solely by The Porter's Daughter. This payment constitutes the consignor's sole remedy.
Claims for lost or stolen items must be submitted in writing within 30 days following the end of the 180-day consignment period.
Handbag Authentication
All handbags are subject to a mandatory $25 authentication fee unless accompanied by a valid authentication certificate from Entrupy or LegitGrails.
If a handbag was previously purchased from The Porter's Daughter and includes its original authentication certificate, re-authentication is not required, provided the consignor discloses this at intake and the certificate is placed on file.
Consignor's Representations, Warranties & Indemnification
By consigning, you represent and warrant that: (a) you are at least 18 years of age; (b) you have full legal title and authority to consign and sell the items; (c) the items are not subject to any liens or encumbrances; (d) the items are not counterfeit; (e) the items do not infringe any trademark, copyright, or other intellectual property right; and (f) the items are not the result of illegal activity, including theft or fraud.

Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Porter's Daughter shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the purchase or use of any product sold. In no event will The Porter's Daughter's liability exceed the amount actually received or paid as a result of selling the consignor's property.

Amicable Resolution
Notify The Porter's Daughter of any dispute by email at help@theportersdaughter.com, describing the nature of the dispute and the relief sought. The parties will have 60 days to resolve the matter informally.
Mediation
If unresolved after 60 days, the dispute may be submitted to mediation in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, with a Mississippi-licensed attorney acting as mediator.
Binding Arbitration
If mediation is unsuccessful, disputes will be resolved by binding arbitration administered under the AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules, conducted in Forrest County, Mississippi, by a single arbitrator. The arbitrator's decision is final and binding.
Governing Law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of Mississippi. Any matters not subject to arbitration will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts of Mississippi sitting in Forrest County.
